The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (NI) 2000 (Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 in the rest of the UK) places a legal duty on employers to carry out suitable and sufficient risk assessment of reasonably foreseeable risks and to eliminate or reduce the risk so far as is reasonably practicable.
Risk assessments are at the very core of keeping people safe at work, and yet many people complicate the process and produce documentation that few understand. NPTNI offers an excellent half day course which teaches the attendees exactly what they need to do to make their risk assessment suitable and sufficient to keep their people and others safe in the workplace.
An outline of relevant legislation
Employer and employee responsibility
Recognising common hazards and their potential to cause harm
A comprehensive overview of the risk assessment process
Applying the hierarchy of risk control
Practical risk assessment (client chooses whether this will be done through familiar workplace scenarios or out in the workplace)
Interactive review of the practical risk assessments
Short test to ensure understanding
NPTNI will provide a risk assessment template which can be used by the client going forward should they wish to do so.
Health and Safety should never be dull and dreary. What could be more exciting that coming home from work feeling exhilarated and valued? Everyone has a role to play in the risk assessment process and with the right motivation, everyone should be encouraged to play a part.
